But the home team fought back in the second period as the rookie scored two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier caught a pass from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone in the middle of the third quarter to make it 21-7

"It was a crucial moment for him delivering, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," Maye commented on the rookie. "He wants to be great."

Justin Fields found Metchie late in the third quarter to reduce the lead for the Jets but Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the final period as the Patriots sealed the triumph
